On June 15, 1974, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) House of Delegates approved the creation of the APTA Section on Pediatrics; the first business meeting was held the next day with 64 people in attendance. Find out more about the history of pediatric physical therapy and the founding of the Section on Pediatrics (now known as the APTA Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy - APTA Pediatrics).
"I have been a member of the APTA for 58 years. I turned to the Section on Pediatrics to help guide me through the development of a school-based PT program followed by years serving as a volunteer. Along the way I met esteemed leaders and was given opportunities to serve in a fun way. An added perk was the friendships that developed and have continued over the years. The Academy has been a part of my life for so long, and I have gained so very much."
